It looks like our community halls have ticked all five NHS’ steps to health and well-being, but here’s our take on it…

Clearly community halls can play an important role in our health and well-being. For some, such as those experiencing mental health issues, they may be one of the few places they feel safe to share and connect with others.

They are very inclusive places, offering activities to suit a myriad of different interests from Dungeons and Dragons and Boxercise to Sewing Machine and Poetry classes, the list is endless!

For those facing barriers to keeping active, community halls can provide innovative ways to exercise such as the Tovertafel for those with memory loss or seated aerobic classes. They also offer opportunities to give back through volunteering and donating expertise.

We can even find ways to ‘live in the moment’ in these spaces through mindfulness classes, yoga, meditation and gardening.

Our community halls offer an accessible way to connect, learn, keep active, give back and be mindful and at Action Hampshire we are always ready to fly the flag for these amazing organisations!
