Summary

Our exciting new project Raising Voices in Research kicked off on 17th January, with an online workshop for all participating organisations. Over the next month these organisations will be delivering two workshops with their community members, to gain an understanding of their perceptions of research and to co-create a communications toolkit. Outputs from these sessions will then be shared at a launch event in March. Want to find out more about this FULLY FUNDED opportunity? We are still looking for organisations working in these particular areas, who have an existing group of community members they could undertake the project with:

– Gendered issues/health

– Carers

– Children and young people

If this is you, please contact Jess via this link as soon as possible, for more information.

General information

Action Hampshire (in partnership with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICS, University Hospital Southampton research organisations, the University of Winchester and Southampton and Hampshire County Council and other VCSE organisations) has been given funding to deliver a programme, called Raising Voices in Research, that aims to grow research engagement, through both the creation of networks and increasing underserved communities’ participation in research.

This FULLY FUNDED project has already started but we are keen to get organisations working in these particular areas, who have an existing group of community members they could undertake the project with, involved:

What will it involve? Timeline of Raising Voices in Research Activities

17th January: Launch session with all participating organisations. The recording of this session is available to all participating organisations and a follow-up discussion with Action Hampshire can be offered if necessary.

18th January – Early March (deadline flexible): Organisations deliver two workshops with approximately 10 of their community members.

– Workshop 1: listen to and understand your community members’ needs and perceptions regarding research. Sharing knowledge provided to ‘demystify’ research and share existing research opportunities.

– Workshop 2: co-design communications messages with your community members that they believe will better engage their fellow community members.

A small amount of evaluation data will also need to be collected during these workshops.

Your group’s insight from the workshops will be used by the project partners to design a local plan for research and communications package. You will be invited to a launch event in March, with other participating organisations and local researchers, where these project outputs will be shared.
