Hampshire Homes Hub’s housing-based survey

Hampshire Homes Hub at Action Hampshire carries out a wide variety of housing based surveys which provide an independent assessment of the need for different types of housing within a particular area and an understanding of the housing affordability levels of local residents.

At Action Hampshire, we believe that communities are more likely to thrive and retain their amenities and character when homes meet the specific needs of local people, as this gives them the opportunity to remain within their communities and among valuable support networks.

Many different types of household could be in need of housing. Families on low or average incomes may be unable to afford what is currently available in their local housing market, ‘downsizers’ may be unable to find smaller more suitable properties locally and young people may be unable to rent or purchase their own home locally.

Rural affordable housing

Over the past 15 years, Hampshire Homes Hub has carried out a number of rural affordable housing need surveys in consultation with parish and town councils across Hampshire. Such surveys have led to the delivery of over 500 affordable homes for local people across rural Hampshire.

Neighbourhood development plans

Hampshire Homes Hub provides housing need surveys for Neighbourhood Development Plan groups who are seeking to identify the local need for all types of housing in their area over the next few years. These reports provide vital evidence for their neighbourhood plan policies and help them to shape their local area.

Community housing surveys and housing research

Hampshire Homes Hub also carries out housing need surveys and research for other organisations such as community led housing groups, local housing associations or charities. This could include, for example, carrying out a survey to identify demand for a particular type of housing for the community.
