Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across Hampshire are stepping up to support Hampshire’s quest to become smoke-free by 2030. Currently, organisations which have signed up to the Let’s Be Smokefree are showing just how diverse and community‑focused activities can be and are building smoking‑cessation awareness into the work they already do!

How are VCSEs delivering the ‘quit smoking’ message?

  • drop‑in chats
  • outreach partnerships
  • one‑to‑one support
  • ensuring help is available where people already connect
  • tailoring efforts to specific communities— people with disabilities, older adults, and those experiencing homelessness
  • ensuring language, culture, and lived experience are valued and reflected

Did you know…?

  • 19% of VCSEs engaged in the project are running one to one sessions, online and in person
  • 63% are running targeted group workshops and informal drop-in sessions
  • 13% are holding events ie Ramadan focussed radio messages and library sessions
  • 6% are sharing newsletter articles and social media posts

These diverse activities show that there is no single right way to deliver smoking awareness—what matters the most is delivering it in ways which feel safe, relevant and empower the individual.

What could you do to help your community be smoke-free?

If your organisation supports communities who live, work or registered with a GP in Hampshire (excluding Southampton & Portsmouth) and you’re curious about getting involved, come along to one of upcoming workshops.  Find out how we can support your organisation to help your community quit smoking.

We’ll talk you through the funding options, share some thought-provoking smoking facts and walk you through the support available to help your community quit smoking.
