Nicky Judd, CEO welcomes the imminent Small Charity Week and explains the important role smaller organisation make. She encourages you to take advantage of the help and resources available.

We know that it takes VCSE organisations of all shapes and sizes to make the world go round! On 24-28 June it is small charity week where the focus is on small charities, all the specialist support that is out there for you and all the things that small charities bring!

Small charities can be more responsive

At Action Hampshire we understand the unique perspective of small charities is absolutely vital – often they’re more adaptable and can be more quickly responsive to situations and the needs and asks of your communities, some small charities are extremely place-based; tailored and bespoke to your place and community. Many of these organisations are volunteer led or rely more on volunteer input. This comes with it’s unique challenges too. So do look up all the resources and let us know what you’re planning for small charity week!

Being part of a collaborative means smaller organisations have access to larger funding opportunities

One of the beauty of networks is that we get the benefits of insights from small organisations, without putting huge demands on them, and it means that as part of a collaborative smaller organisations can have access to larger funding pots. Action Hampshire convene a number of networks and partnerships, please do take a look at our website and get involved!

Small organisations play a major part in our integrated care systems

Action Hampshire project manage HIVCA, which is the alliance of VCSE organisations that feeds into Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System. Any VCSE organisation active anywhere across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton is welcome to join! It’s part of the HIVCA model, designed by the VCSE sector, that leaders in different themes and communities come from small organisations as well as larger ones. Your unique perspective matters!
