At Action Hampshire we have been working with parish councils and communities to deliver rural affordable housing for nearly 20 years. As Hampshire Homes Hub we continue this work across Hampshire.

Housing is an important issue in rural communities. Recent increases in house prices have far outstripped average increases in earnings, meaning that local people on low or average earnings can be priced out of their local area.

As reported recently, analysis from Hamptons Estate Agency shows that currently prices are rising on average 14.2% a year in countryside locations, compared with less than 7% in urban areas.

Affordable rural housing enables local people on more modest incomes, to remain in or return to a parish where they have a strong local connection and can help maintain a mixed community which is sustainable and inclusive.

The booklet ‘A home for where the heart is’ published through our previous HARAH Partnership, shares personal stories of local people who through the development of rural affordable housing were able to remain within their community.

We at Hampshire Homes Hub work to support parish councils and communities to deliver the homes needed for local people. If you are interested in delivering homes for your community please do get in touch.
