Nicky Judd started her new role as CEO of Action Hampshire on 20 May, but has been a valued member of the team since 2022. Her previous role was Head of Community Projects, sitting on the Senior Leadership Team. In this article she addresses our members and illustrates her commitment to the sector and the organisations within it.

Over to you Nicky…

As I start as Action Hampshire’s new CEO, I want to say a special thank you to our members for being part of team Action Hampshire!

Having lots of encouraging messages from people over the last few days, I’m reminded of the difference having people cheering us on can make. (I’ve started an email folder called Affirmations that I can revisit when facing challenges!)

Tough times ahead but we’ll work together

These are tough times for our communities and us all as VCSE organisations. It feels vital to the role of the VCSE sector, that early intervention and community-based action is recognised more than ever. However, resources are decreasing while the demands on our services are ever increasing.

BUT voluntary, community and social enterprise groups are still innovating, still turning up and being there for our communities, and increasingly being able to speak about and demonstrate the huge impact we have. Communities are having more of a voice and opportunity to shape services through you, the VCSE organisations working with them. This is something we’re especially passionate about supporting here at Action Hampshire.

We want to be your cheerleaders

So on behalf of the whole team at Action Hampshire want to be your cheer leaders. We want to help resource you (with guidance, templates, training and funding), connect you, help you shout about your impact and advocate for your communities, help you collaborate together and with other sectors and generally be in your corner! Thanks for being with us in this.
