Pavilion on the Park is an active community hub offering a diverse range of activities and services. In this article we’d like to share with you information about their unique Sensory4all service.

What is Sensory4all?

Many of the beneficiaries are young children with a range of additional needs and long-term health conditions, including autism, ADHD, epilepsy, genetic disorders, visual impairments, PLMD, and cerebral palsy. Additionally, there are many adults and elderly visitors too with a range of physical disabilities and learning difficulties, as well as neuro diverse conditions such as autism and dementia.

Many families with disabled and unwell children struggle to find affordable and inclusive activities that allow their young people to enjoy a safe space that benefits their well-being as well as provide a fun, accessible activity and our aim is to do that.

The service is fully inclusive and accessible

Sensory4all is non-judgemental, friendly, and helpful service that brings joy and comfort to all that use it.

The range of projects include a playgroup for babies and toddlers, SEN Saturdays for families with older children, a service just for schools, birthday parties for children with or without additional needs and neuro diversity, a free sensory pop-up class at local libraries, and personally tailored and individualised private sessions for individuals, families and groups.

The service needs your continued support

Unfortunately, being a service that tries to cater for a range of complex needs comes at a cost. Their electrical and lighting systems that operate the staple features of the sensory room are now over 10 years old and in need of repair or replacement and upgrades include our extremely popular interactive floor projector, full sized bubble tube, mood lighting and ceiling lights plus soft furnishings and storage systems which were damaged by flooding earlier in the year. Any family or organisation that helps people with additional needs will tell you that specialist equipment is extremely expensive, not just to buy but also to maintain often costing in the region of hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
