Our Member of the month for June is Bedhampton Community Centre CIO

We’re a very friendly bunch, and very little gets done without coffee and cake!

Bedhampton Community Centre CIO is a no-barriers centre for everyone in the Havant area. We have activities, classes and social events for all ages, every day of the week from 8:00-23:00.

We have a family Sunday Fun Day coming up on Sunday 6 August, 11:00-15:00. This day is FULL of free and low-cost activities, including giant games, hot food for sale, a children’s disco, laser tag, and all of the usual fun day games such as hook-a-duck and a fancy dress competition (adults as well!). All of the money raised goes back into the centre to put on even more free and low-cost activities. We never want finances to be a barrier to coming along to our activities, and really appreciate everyone’s support in any way they can give it.

We try and have something on for all ages. We have loud and fun toddler groups, a resident youth theatre, our social afternoons and tea dances, adult hula hooping, yoga and pilates (and yogalates, who knew that was a thing?!), and our always popular Adults Only Party Nights. The only way I can describe these is as a school disco but for adults! They often have a theme, and people dress up to come along. Our 90s Party Night was full of Super Mario and Britney Spears look alikes, our 80s Parties are always full of neon tutus and ‘Frankie Says Relax’ t-shirts, our Christmas Parties are just pure glitter and sequins!

We also have regular sales run by our amazing volunteers. These happen on the first Wednesday of every month. Our ‘Giant Jigsaw Sales’ are always popular (jigsaws are normal size though!) and at the last sale we sold over 100 jigsaws in two hours! The money raised from these sales is going into our redecorating pot – we’re currently upgrading our comfy lounge room, but the main hall is next on the list. In fact, there’s always something on our list, and we’re so grateful for everyone that comes along and makes our centre the happy and welcoming place it is. So next time you’re looking for somewhere to go, something to do, somewhere to hire or a party night to attend, think of us!
