Congratulations…

…to the trustees and all involved with the village halls at Oakhanger and Braishfield. Both organisations have been awarded a grant through the national Village Hall Improvement Grant scheme, to help them improve and extend their halls. The scheme is funded by Defra and managed by ACRE, our England-wide partner charity.

£1.2 million of funding has so far been awarded to a total of 21 rural community halls through the grant scheme, with up to £1.8 million still available to allocate to organisations that have made it through the first stage of the application process. The scheme is closed to new applicants but more funds might be made available later.

Details of the scheme’s success so far were announced at the start of Village Halls Week 2020, in a House of Commons reception hosted by Defra Minister Lord Gardiner of Kimble. Village Halls Week is a national celebration of rural community halls and all those hardworking people who keep them up and running.

Action Hampshire joined in with Village Halls Week and many of you sent us some great material to share – news of events coming up, stories from your venue’s past, photographs of historical occasions… We’re really grateful to everyone who got in touch!

Action Hampshire is also active on social media so please connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
