Join us for our next Research Collaborative event, taking place on Wednesday 15  October at The Carnival Hall in Basingstoke. The event will be from 10:00 – 12:00, and there will be an opportunity for networking from 12:00 – 13:00.

This event is open to researchers, VCSE organisations, and community members, offering a great opportunity to discuss best practice and current local research opportunities. You will also hear from some great speakers about how they are supporting under-served communities to participate in research:

  • Anita Davis – Work Better Innovations

Work Better Innovation’s community-led study explores barriers migrant women from the ethnic minority background face in accessing menopause support, highlighting cultural taboos, language barriers, limited healthcare access, and low awareness of resources on women’s health. The idea for this research emerged in May 2024 during a community food event hosted by Work Better Innovations in Portsmouth that included an information session on menopause. Find out how Work Better Innovations engaged with participants to undertake this study and the findings and recommendations produced as a result.

  • Imogen Fecher-Jones – Perioperative Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Research Fellow

Diary of a Doctoral Student: Overcoming challenges to inclusive recruitment. Imogen’s talk will provide a brief background to her study in virtual pre-operative education, before exploring the challenges experienced in relation to public engagement and recruitment and how these were overcome to complete a successful project.
