What’s going on in your village hall over the festive period? Community lunches, markets, carol services, pantomimes and much more!
Here are a few examples to showcase the range of activities taking place across Hampshire.
Otterbourne Village Hall – there’s a Christmas concert and a carol service around the Christmas tree, followed by Alice in Wonderland at the Village Hall in January.
Chapel Stores in East Boldre is holding an art and craft fair, while the Village Hall is hosting their first ever Christmas Show including a cookery and craft competition
The Cross Barn in Odiham is showing The Holdovers, a film set at Christmas in 1970, complete with refreshments from the era.
The Lymington Centre is showing several films over the Christmas period
Woodgreen in the New Forest and Petersfield both have a community lunch on Christmas Day, organised by the local churches. Events like this are a great way to include people who might otherwise be lonely over the Christmas period.
The Victory Hall in Warsash is hosting two Christmas concerts, there’s a bring-and-share buffet at Stroud Village Hall, and Colden Common Community Centre has a morning of panto-themed activities for children.
What’s going on in your village hall over the festive period?
Building a stronger and more cohesive community came up as a big issue in our recent workshop session on making your rural community thrive. Whatever events are going on at your venue or elsewhere in your locality this Christmas, we hope you can draw people together and get more people involved in contributing to the life of your community.
