Are there local people living and working in your parish that have a housing need?

Did you know that only 9% of the housing stock in rural communities is considered affordable?

Factors such as high house prices, a shortage of affordable homes to rent, and increasing levels of second home ownership and holiday lets, all present challenges to local economies and the continuation of vital services in many rural areas. Affordable housing is essential to the sustainability and prosperity of rural communities. It ensures people can afford to stay and work in their local area, which also supports the rural economy.

Whether you belong to a rural community or want to work/engage with rural communities, our Rural Housing team are keen to hear from you. You can find out about our Rural Housing Enabling services via this link.

Furthermore, if you are Parish / Town Councillor in a rural area and would like to find out more about identifying and meeting the local housing need in your parish, come along to our online briefing session on 11 September.  We’d also like to connect with you if you’re a rural landowner or have any other kind of interest in rural affordable housing in Hampshire:
