Application deadline: none – contact the foundation to enquire about the prospect of grant support

The Risman Foundation is an ambitious London-based grant-making charity with plans to increase its small to medium sized grant-giving to £2 million by 2030 while also introducing a large grants programme.

The Foundation has established award partnerships with several institutions in the course of the year to incentivize and reward innovation and excellence in their chosen fields. This model will form one path for ramping the Foundation’s activities with grantees, complemented by one-off style awards to carefully selected worthwhile causes.  The Foundation expanded other giving models as a new executive team takes shape and envisages supporting larger awards to organisations leading transformative change in key issue areas, as well as core projects which are intended to expend the current reserves within the next ten years.

Although the Foundation’s charitable aims are discretionary, its principal areas of interest are:

1. Education: support of educational institutions including but not limited to those of relevance to the Risman family.
2. Environment: the advancement of environmental protection or improvement.
3. Arts & Heritage
: support of the arts, culture and heritage in both the developed and developing world.
4. Sport: support of sporting excellence, and the promotion of participatory team sport, all with a view to advancing the traditional benefits of sport in developing good physical and mental health, alongside skills of leadership and teamwork and attributes of resilience and tolerance in young people.
5. Humanity: individuals in circumstances of acute suffering through the organisations that care for or assist them, and
6. Social Entrepreneurship: the use of entrepreneurial endeavour to solve social problems.

The Foundation has an introductory website – https://www.rismanfoundation.org/.   Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

To enquire about the prospect of grant support, please write to the Foundation at the following address:  Michael Risman, Chair, The Risman Foundation, c/o Vitruvian Partners, 105 Wigmore Street, London W1U 1QY.  For enquiries email – theteam@rismanfoundation.org
