The Sofronie Foundation’s main goal is to help young people by offering them the opportunities with which they can improve their employment chances – benefitting both their own lives and the lives of their future families. By addressing the issues that hold young people back from accessing opportunities, the Foundation aims to provide a stepping-stone to future employment and life success.
The Foundation’s aim is to promote social mobility by improving educational opportunities and by providing pathways out of poverty for children and young people disadvantaged by a lack of opportunity. The Foundation funds programmes in the UK, France and the Netherlands.
Proposals assisted by the Foundation may include support for academic, vocational or non-formal interventions as well as others that offer preparation for education, training, skills development or work, particularly digital programmes to enhance skills for the technical requirements of future employment.
The Foundation focuses on children and young people who:
* Are struggling in school.
* Are at a severe disadvantage.
* Lack opportunity to improve their educational attainment.
* Have difficult and challenging family lives, and
* Are unemployed.
The Foundation provides grants to registered and non-registered charitable organisations. Grants are for a variety of costs, depending on requirements. These include specific projects but also core operating costs. The length of a grant can be for one or more years. The Foundation will also consider further funding after reviewing progress reports and evaluations.
Further information, guidance, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and an application form is available on the Foundation’s website which you can access via this link – www.sofronie.org/how-to-apply/
