Application deadline:  none – applications may be made at any in writing.  However the Foundation normally applies 31 August annually as a cut-off for applications, which are normally reviewed annually each November.

The Foundation awards grants of up to £10,000, with no matched funding requirement, to UK registered charities working in the areas of:

o Children and young people.
o Medical research.
o Older people / the elderly, and
o Social research.

Grants, which are normally for between £2,500 and £10,000, are available to UK registered charities with an annual turnover of £1 million that are providing services in the UK. The Foundation particularly likes to support charities where its grants can make a real difference and is therefore very careful in selecting who will receive a grant.

To apply, eligible organisations should write to the Secretary, Miss G Bush at the address provided below with the following information, which should not exceed 2 pages of A4:

o Who the charity is.
o Its charity number.
o What work the charity does.
o Details of the specific project for which the applicant is requesting funding.
o The amount of funding the applicant is looking for, and
o Contact details, together with website address if there is one.

Further information, guidance and a criteria checklist is available on the Foundation’s website.

Contact details for the Foundation are:

Miss G Bush, Secretary, The Robert McAlpine Foundation, Eaton Court, Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hemstead HP2 7TR or email: foundation@srm.com
