Danny Dawes the Founder of Grandad’s Front Room has an inherent passion to support people in urgent need in a variety of ways.

Grandad’s Front Room is a community support shop whose aim is to support local community groups/charities through actions that make a difference. Their mission is to enable and empower individuals, families, community groups in Bognor Regis and surrounding area without prejudice of ANY form.

They operate on a not-for-profit basis helping those that need them, bringing the community together and promoting a togetherness programme. They sell retro, vintage, upcycled, recycled and collectible items in their shop and promote crafters, creators, junk-smiths, knitters, inventors and artists. They donate goods to those in need to help them through difficult times.

Fergus Lyons, Action Hampshire’s Social Enterprise Administrator says, “Danny is an inspiration to us and other social enterprise organisations in Sussex, as this year he invited us to visit his shop in Bognor Regis to tell others about the Community Business Trade Up programme”.

They gained Community Interest Company (CIC) status in November 2016 and joined the Action Hampshire hosted Community Business Trade Up programme in 2018. Danny says he hopes that others in his area will now recognise other social enterprises/community businesses and the kind of help they may need.

They operate a ‘Front Room’ mentality and if you just want to pop in for a cuppa and a custard cream they welcome all to do so!
