Our response to the 2025 Status of UK Fundraising Report

The recently published 2025 Status of UK Fundraising report from Blackbaud, shared via Charity Digital, paints a familiar picture for many voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. Rising demand, static or declining income, and growing pressure to innovate in a tough economic climate are just some of the challenges faced by our members.

One key takeaway from the report is that digital maturity – not size or budget – is becoming a defining factor in fundraising success.

That’s an encouraging message for the small charities and community groups we support. It highlights that innovation doesn’t always require expensive systems or full-time digital teams. Sometimes, it looks like streamlining your processes, getting more confident with data, or using everyday tech like WhatsApp or Canva to better connect with supporters.

The report also shines a light on the value of strong relationships in fundraising. Exceptional gifts and income growth often come from deepening engagement and improving the supporter experience. We couldn’t agree more – putting people and communities at the heart of your strategy is where real, lasting impact begins.

As we look ahead, one thing is clear: resilience doesn’t mean doing it all – it means having the support, skills and networks to adapt and thrive. We’ll continue to champion small charities and community groups, and ensure they have the tools, knowledge and support they need to thrive, even in uncertain times.
