How we raised the roof on rural, affordable housing

Last week we were invited to share our rural affordable housing story on the BBC!

BBC Politics South, aired Sunday 21 September, featured a very positive article about Curdridge, a recently completed affordable housing development which Action Hampshire helped make happen alongside partners which included the local parish council, Hastoe and the landowner. Hear Claire Morgan, our project officer talk to BBC presenter Emily Hudson and find out more about the project!

We have also recently shared our rural, housing story on Greatest Hits Radio (South) and BBC Radio Solent.

Keeping rural affordable housing on the map

Over the last 20 years we have helped deliver over 500 new homes by bringing organisations, parish Councillors and landowners together with the shared aim of creating vibrant villages. In line with Rural Housing Week in early September we dedicated our Connect newsletter to ‘all things rural housing’ and we have more Roots and Roofs events planned over the coming months. You can read more about how we showcased rural housing in our blog.

At the end of 2024-25, our rural housing enabling team had 17 schemes in its pipeline, engaging with 17 different parish councils across Hampshire and ultimately delivering at least 131 affordable homes.
