Helping to tackle fuel poverty
The Warmth Matters project provides information and support about how to save money and energy. It also advises how vulnerable households can receive support from energy providers, including joining the Priority Service Register or applying for the Warm Home Discount Scheme. We deliver Warmth Matters support with funding from Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).
We host information sessions for members of the public and community organisations across Hampshire and North West Surrey. Our approach is collaborative, supporting food banks, community centres and advice services to reach and support communities affected by fuel poverty.
Our priority is to offer support and advice to individuals and families concerned about how they will get through the winter months when faced with rising energy bills. While fuel poverty is not new, the current context is becoming more difficult, with higher bills forcing families into debt, fewer opportunities for cheaper fuel tariffs, and the continuing economic impact of the pandemic on jobs and benefits. We also signpost people to other charitable grants, debt services and agencies that can offer more support.
