As part of my placement at Action Hampshire through the NHS Graduate Management Scheme, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in a range of projects, including Raising Voices in Research. Recently, I attended the Research Collaborative Event on Wednesday 15 October at Carnival Hall in Basingstoke.

The event brought colleagues, researchers, and members of the Research Collaborative from across the region to share learning and connect through inclusive, local research. As it was my first time attending, I felt immediately welcomed by the friendly and open atmosphere created by both the organisers and participants.

I had the opportunity to hear from a diverse range of speakers who shared their experiences and insights into the research they are currently undertaking. They offered practical and honest reflections on how they are engaging with communities and under-served voices in research. The breadth of topics covered displayed the different ways inclusive research and engagement are being embedded across the health sector to drive meaningful change.

I found the event really highlighted the value of collaboration, with a clear sense of shared passion for research in the room. Engaging with others gave me a greater understanding of the breadth of research taking place, and how working with diverse individuals can lead to impactful outcomes. It also provided valuable opportunities to connect and gain insights from others experiences.

Thank you to the Raising Voices in Research team for creating an engaging event, and to the speakers for providing inspiring learning.

Would you like to join the next Research Collaborative

The next one will take place on Thursday the 19 March 2026. To join you will need to be a member of the Research Collaborative.
