Small charities are at the heart of our communities.

They’re often the first to step in, the last to give up, and the ones who know exactly what their community needs. We believe these organisations deserve more than just recognition – they deserve real, practical support that helps them grow, thrive, and keep making a difference.

So in the spirit of Small Charity Week, here are 5 key ways we support small charities and community groups across Hampshire:
  1. We help them find funding
Finding funding is one of the biggest challenges for small charities. That’s why we share regular grant opportunities and run events like our brilliant SOUP evenings – where local groups pitch for small pots of funding voted for by the community.
  2. We share their stories
So many small charities do incredible work. We think they deserve the spotlight! That’s why we created our Member of the Month feature, showcasing inspiring organisations doing great things in their communities. From mental health support to youth activities and food projects – there are some truly inspiring stories here - Follow this link to our projects
  3. We build connections that matter
We bring organisations together through networking events, collaboration projects, and sector meet-ups that make space for sharing ideas, experiences, and opportunities.
  4. We offer training and support
From governance and safeguarding to comms planning and measuring impact - our training workshops and peer-peer tailored support are designed to help charities build confidence and security in what they do.
  5. We champion the Sector
We’re always advocating for the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector at local and regional levels – making sure small charities have a seat at the table when it comes to decisions that affect them. We share opportunities and signpost organisations to ‘Have their say’ on key issues impacting the sector.

In a Nutshell…

Whether it’s helping secure funding, shouting about your work, connecting you with others, or offering practical support – we’re here for the amazing small organisations making a big impact across Hampshire (and further!).

If you’re part of a small charity or group doing great things, we’d love to hear from you!

And if you’re not, why not take a moment this Small Charity week to say thank you to the ones working behind the scenes to keep our communities strong?
